The Rio Maranon Poison Frog lives by the Maranon River in
northern Peru. It is tiny, with a head and body length of
less than an inch long.
The species has a regular body colour of white spots on
chocolate brown (no two have the same pattern). It is
related to its neighbour on the Rio Maranon, the Rio
Santiago Poison Frog (Excidobates captivus), which
has red and yellow spots on a black background.
This endangered frog has a high risk of becoming extinct in
