The African Bullfrog, also called Giant African Bullfrog, is native to Central and Southern Africa.
Due to its scientific name, it is also called a Pixie frog, but there are 3 other frogs in the genus.
The African Bullfrog is the second largest frog (the largest being the Goliath Frog of west Central Africa)
with males reaching 24 cm (nearly 10 inches). Females are half that size and sometimes retain the juvenile's a faint yellow line along the back.
Males are aggressive, noisy and have sharp teeth. Carnivorous, the frogs will eat anything they can fit into their mouths.
They hibernate underground in the dry season. They have specially-adapted back feet for digging into mud.
