Engrailed Moth Ectropis crepuscularia

Engrailed Moth
Engrailed Moth
The Engrailed moth is sometimes split into two species, the Small Engrailed and the Engrailed. The two are very similar in size, markings and flight time. When regarded as two species, the Small Engrailed takes the binominal Ectropis crepuscularia and the Engrailed becomes E. bistortata.

It superficially resembles several other moths, especially the Mottled, Willow, Speckled, Pale Oak and Great Oak Beauties. Wingspan 30-40mm; flight Mar-Apr and Jul-Aug.
