Peppered Moth

The Peppered Moth has good camouflage while resting by day on rock or stone, including buildings. Melanistic (black or almost black) forms of the Peppered Moth grew common in the heyday of coal, especially in industrial areas in Midlands/north England, but have since declined; it is said that this is a practical example of evolution.
