With a name like "Indian Meal" one could expect this maroon and blue-black moth to resemble (or eat) a curry. In fact it is a meal moth in the sense that it lays its eggs in meal (grain, cereals, seeds and similar), the caterpillars' foodstuff. Above in a drum of imported bird seed. Named after North American corn colloquially called Indian Meal, it is a worldwide pest and it can be found in the UK, particularly in animal foods.
