The Wood Mouse,
previously more commonly known as the Field Mouse, is still mis-named
since it prefers shrub and hedge habitat to either woodland or open
fields. Also known as Long-tailed Field Mice, they are common throughout most of Europe. |

| The tail is about the same length as its body (unlike Voles which have much shorter tails, also less upright ears and less protruding eyes than the Mouse). | ||

| Wood Mice have warm honey brown fur (browner than the grey of House Mice; not as chestnut red as Bank Voles) with a white underside. The Yellow-necked Mouse is similar. | ||
