Harvest Mouse

   Micromys minutus

 

The Harvest Mouse is the UK's smallest mouse -- really very tiny and about half the size of the House Mouse
They live in fields of cereal (hence their name, being found when it is harvested) or in long grass
The tail is longer than the head and body of the mouse and, unlike other mice, is prehensile (is used to cling on to cereal/grass stems)
