The Roloway Monkey looks similar to its relative the Diana Monkey, of which it was previously thought to be a subspecies, but has a straighter, less bow-shaped brow, a longer, white beard and a light honey-coloured belly rather than red. It is native to West Africa (Ivory Coast and Ghana). Like the Diana, it is mainly vegetarian. It lives in large family groups.
It is highly endangered, having lost some 80% of its population in the last 60 years, mainly through hunting for the bushmeat trade and through habitat loss.
