Crowned Lemur, named after the patch of orange fur on the
brow, is native to the most northerly point of Madagascar.
The male (above)
has a large orange crown made up of two triangles plus a
black cap. He also has a reddish grey-brown coat and red
The female, above, has a weaker crown, no black cap and a
more grey coat. She has a grey tail.

Crowned Lemurs are active mainly by day but also at night.

The Crowned Lemur is
endangered through slash and burn habitat destruction for
mining and charcoal production, plus illegal logging and from hunting.
