Swamp Cavy/ Greater Guinea Pig
The Swamp Cavy, also called the Greater Guinea Pig, is a wild rodent related to the domestic Guinea Pig and is native to a coastal area of southeastern Brazil and eastern Uruguay.
Their habitat is swamp and damp grassland and they have webbing between their toes and swim well.
Solitary creatures, they grow to about a foot in length. Like the Guinea Pig, they have no visible tail. Unusually for small rodents, young are independent soon after birth.
