The Red Mason Bee is a "solitary" "mason" bee which uses mud to sculpt its nest in holes or tubes. It has red-ginger hair on its abdomen and sparser hairs on its black thorax.

It is non-aggressive, busy and a good pollinator.
(The Tawny Mining Bee, Andrena fulva, looks a little similar with rufus hairs on thorax and abdomen, but is smaller and with an all black face.)
