Endemic to the Canary Islands, the Canary Large White butterfly is similar to its relative, the Large white (Pieris Brassicae) but with a large, bold, black rectangle on the underside forewing.

The female (above) also has an elongated, bold, black rectangle on the topside of the forewing in place of the usual two spots.

The male (below) has the usual plain white topside except for the black-cornered forewing tips.
