The Turkey Vulture, also called
the Turkey Buzzard in North America, is native to North, Central and South
America. Its name is a reference to its resemblance to a wild turkey. Like other vultures, it scavenges carrion and has a bald face and head for hygiene. It also has a hole through its nose (seen sideways), a red/pink head and a white beak. |

| It is one of the few vultures/birds of prey to have a sense of smell, which it uses to find the foul-smelling, decaying flesh on which it feeds. | |
