The African Harrier Hawk, also
called the Gymnogene, is native to
sub-Saharan Africa. Male and female have similar plumage but juveniles are brown. The colour of the bare facial skin on the hawk varies (white, buff, yellow, orange, pink). It climbs trees to rob nest holes of nestlings, eggs and small birds as well as probing for insects and eating oil palm fruit. |
