The Mountain Parakeet lives at high altitude in the Andes of Argentina, Chile, Bolivia and Peru.
The Latin name "aurifrons" means gold-fronted but only the male (above right) has a yellow front (brow, face, chest, belly), the female (above left) being plainer green.

The Red-billed subspecies of Mountain Parakeet (Psilopsiagon aurifrons rubrirostris), above, is darker green with a bluish green front. The male has a pale pink bill.
The Sierra Parakeet, also called the Grey-hooded Parakeet, lives at high altitude in the Andes of Argentina, Chile and Bolivia.
