Blue-naped/Blue-crowned Parrot

Tanygnathus lucionensis

Blue-naped Parrot Blue-naped Parrot Blue-naped Parrot
The Blue-naped Parrot is also sometimes called the Blue-crowned Green Parrot leading to confusion with the Blue-crowned Hanging Parrot and Blue-crowned Conure/Parakeet.
It comes from the Philippines and is also sometimes called the Luzon Parrot although it occurs on other islands as well as Luzon.
Unlike its larger cousin, the Blue-backed Parrot, Blue-naped males and females both have red bills.

Great-billed/Moluccan Parrot

Tanygnathus megalorynchos

Great-billed Parrot Great-billed Parrot
The Great-billed Parrot is also called the Moluccan Parrot which is misleading since many parrots come from the Moluccan Islands and the Great-billed inhabits several Indonesian islands.
The Great-billed is the largest of the "
Tanygnathus" parrot species shown on this website (the semi-nocturnal Black-lored, "Tanygnathus gramineus" is a little larger).
Males and females have similar plumage and both have large red bills.
