The Golden-shouldered Parrot, named after the yellow band on the wing of the male, is a rare turquoise-coloured parrot from Queensland, Australia. The male also has a black cap and a red vent. A very similar-looking relative, the Hooded Parrot (Psephotus dissimilis) of Northern Territory, has a larger black cap and gold wing patches. |

The Golden-shouldered hen is also similar to that of the Hooded Parrot, but has less blue on her face and chest and the same white brow band as the male. |
