The Regent Parrot, named after Britain's Prince Regent, also called the Regent or Black-tailed Parakeet and the Rock Pebbler, comes mainly from southwestern Australia with a smaller population in the southeast. The male bird is usually a lighter yellowy green than the female with different shades of green on head and back and with more red in the wings and beak. |

The pretty Princess Parrot, more fully called the Princess of Wales Parrot, was named after Princess Alexandra of Denmark who married Britain's Prince of Wales who became King Edward VII. It is also called the Queen Alexandra Parrot/Parakeet and the Rose-throated Parrot. It is nomadic, travelling around the western part of central Australia. The male has brighter colouring of plumage and beak than the female. |
