Monk (Quaker) Parakeets are the only parrots to build a nest of twigs (rather than to use a nest-hole lined with twigs. Here one is collecting the twigs for construction.

The nests are massive, often containing more than one pair/family, but with separated households and entrances; so they need long, flexible twigs like this Canary date palm.

Not good photos, but illustrative of the enormous length of twig carried by some birds (the nesting material is not usually taken from the nesting tree but is carried from some distance away).
