A Black-capped Lory obligingly showing its black cap above as it uses a twig to scratch its neck. The species comes from Papua New Guinea. There are several similar sub-species in different areas/islands with variations in plumage. |

I hate to use a picture with cage mesh but its the only one I have that shows the pretty royal blue underside with gold under-tail. Some sub-species have less blue on the belly and some have blue dungarees with shoulder straps. |
