Kaka New Zealand Kaka
The Kaka, which means "parrot" in the Maori language, has two living sub-species, both endemic to New Zealand: the South Island Nestor meridionalis meridionalis, above, and the North Island sub-species Nestor meridionalis septentrionalis.

The Nestor genus covers 4 species: the New Zealand Kaka (with 2 sub-species) above, the Norfolk Island Kaka (now extinct), the Chatham Island Kaka (extinct) and the Kea (link below). Other New Zealand parrots include the Kakapo and the Kakarikis: the Red-crowned and Yellow-crowned Parakeets.
