The Umbrella Cockatoo, also confusingly called the White Cockatoo, comes from north Maluku islands in Indonesia. Its raised crest has a semi-circle shape, hence its "umbrella" common name. Its plumage is all white except for under-wing and under-tail which are pale yellow (see above right). Its beak is dark/black. |

The Blue-eyed Cockatoo is a large white cockatoo from Papua New Guinea and the solomon Islands. As its name indicates, it has thick pale blue eye-rings (but brown not blue irises). Its beak is dark grey/black like the Umbrella Cockatoo. It has a pale yellow underside to its crest but the crest is a more rounded down shape than the Sulphur-crested types and, unlike them, it shows an all-white head when the crest is down. |

Red-vented or Philippine Cockatoo, also known as a Kalangay, is one of the rarest cockatoos, coming from Palawan and Rasa in the Philippines. A critically endangered red-list species, due to illegal pet trade, the red vent that gives the parrot its name can be seen in the photos above together with yellow under-tail feathers. |
