Moorhen -- yellow-billed Gallinula chloropus

yellow-billed moorhens

These Moorhens are the usual common species but are lacking red pigment, giving them all-yellow beaks and face plates (except for pinkish tinge round nostril) instead of part red beak and red face shield; they also lack the red garter on the legs. They were building a nest, so it will be interesting to see if it is a genetic trait and the chicks have the same lack of red.
