Guans are several species of pheasant-sized birds all living in southern Central America, the Caribbean and northern South America. The White-crested Guan, a chicken-like bird but taller with a longer beak, has a chestnut brown body flecked with white, dark wings and tail, a black face, an orange throat and, as its name says, a white crown/crest. It comes only from a couple of southern river banks in the south-eastern Amazon.
