| The Silver Pheasant, comes from south China, Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia. There are a dozen or more sub-species, together with natural wild hybrids with other "Lophura" pheasants/firebacks. | |

| The male has a black body with some iridescent dark green markings and a white back, wings and tail, the back and wings marked with a black zigzag pattern; he has a jet black crest, a bright red face wattle and red legs, the latter differentiating him from some sub-species of the related grey-legged Kalij Pheasant. | ||

| The female has a plainish brown back but an intricately-patterned black and white front and underside. She also has a large pink-red bare facial area around the eyes. | ||
