Quail-doves from the American tropics are medium-sized, ground-dwelling doves which, although able to fly well,
spend most of their time on the ground in shrubbery and forest floors like the Asian
"Gallicolumba" Ground Pigeons.
The Crested Quail-dove has beautiful, iridescent purple plumage on back and wings, with pink wingtips, an airforce blue breast and a yellow cheek. It is native to Jamaica.
Male and female have similar plumage.
Ruddy Quail Dove
The Ruddy Quail-dove is native to much of Central and tropical South America and the Carribean.
