The Namaqua Dove, also called the Cape Dove, is native to much of sub-Saharan Africa and parts of Arabia.
Very small for a dove, it has a tail as long as its body.
Total length including the tail is just over 20 cm. The wing
primary feathers, visible in flight, are reddish brown. The
male has a black face and throat; the female has light,
sandy grey and a less bright bill.
