The Black Redstart is native to much of Eurasia. The subspecies Eastern Black Redstart is native to Central Asia
from the Tien Shan region to Mongolia.
Photos on this page were taken by Alexandra Makhnina in Kazakhstan (Tien Shan).
The male, shown, has a red belly (not as bright as the Common Redstart and without its white brow) rather than the charcoal belly of the nominal subspecies.
The female is similar to the nominal.
