The Red-vented Bulbul is native to southern Asia. It has also been introduced to some Pacific Islands where it is seen as an agricultural pest to fruit growers.
Male and female have similar plumage. There are several subspecies. Several other bulbul species have red vents.
Bushes, cavities and man-made objects are
used for nesting places. Other birds react to the Red-vented
Bulbul's alarm warning calls.
