Pied Imperial Pigeon

Imperial Pigeons are large, forest-dwelling pigeons with stomachs and guts adapted for eating fruit without damaging the seeds so that they assist in dispersing the seeds of their food plants. The Pied Imperial Pigeon comes from coastal forests in southeast Asia, both mainland and islands -- the latter leading to sub-species closely resembling related species.
Distinguishing features of the Pied Imperial differentiating it from other white with black wing-tips/tail Imperial Pigeons are white thighs, the white under-tail tipped with black (Torresian and Silver-tipped have black spotted white) and the blue bill tipped with black (others have greenish yellow whole or tipped). Most Pieds have pure white plumage except for black areas, but some (above) have yellowish hues. They can be differentiated from the Yellowish Imperial Pigeon by less yellow and by the blue bill tipped with black.
