The Omei Shan Liocichla, Liocichla omeiensis, also
boringly called the Grey-faced Liocichla, is a rare, shy little bird
from the mountain forests of Sichuan, China. It looks a little like the Pekin Robin (to which it is related, although a different genera) with similar red wing markings but without the yellow/orange breast. It also looks similar to the Bugun Liocichla, a related bird from the same area described only in 2006 and of which only 3 breeding pairs (of around a dozen individuals) are known in the world. |
