The grey and black Hooded Crow replaces the all black Carrion Crow in most of the eastern half of Europe (incl. Italy) through to Central Asia/Middle East. Its role is similar but it is more sociable, congregating in flocks in cities. The call is also similar and it can hybridise. In the UK, it replaces the Carrion Crow in parts of Scotland (north and west), the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland.
