Dunnock (Hedge Sparrow)

Male and female similar. Male has slightly darker markings than female (lighter one must be the female as she is speaking).

Like robins, solitary and territorial for much of the year; paired briefly for mating.

Dunnock & fledgling

                       Dunnock juvenile

This dunnock in my back garden has only one leg. We don't know how it was lost. Despite it's disability, the bird seems otherwise to carry out a normal existence.
